Half-Price Summer Fun Days


July 29-30, August 5-6

Visit the Zoo during Half-Price Summer Fun Days to take advantage of discounted half-price admission, half-price rides, and $1 hot dogs in the cafes! Guests will have the opportunity to get up-close with the elephants in Trails of Africa, experience Predator Zone, enjoy a Red Diamond Sea Lion Show and be surrounded by and feed* beautiful lorikeets in the Schaeffer Eye Center Lorikeet Aviary. Come learn how the Zoo uses enrichment activities to help keep the animals mentally and physically fit. Guests can also see live animal demonstrations, feedings, chat with the keepers and more! *Additional cost.

Half Price Admission Cost:
Adults – $8*
Children 2 – 12 years old – $5.50*
Senior Citizens 65 years+ – $7*
Military (Active duty only- must show military ID)- $7*

Dr. Temple Grandin Discussion and Book Signing


July 29, 9am-11am
The Birmingham Zoo and partner organization KultureCity have joined together to host Dr. Temple Grandin and Mr. Grant ManiĆ©r for a discussion and book signing in the Safari Peak at the Birmingham Zoo on Saturday, July 29. Zoo Members and guests with pre-purchased general admission may enter the Zoo at 8:30am, the discussion begins at 9:20am, and the book signing will follow.
This event is free for Birmingham Zoo Members and is included in admission for Zoo guests.



Cat Week


July 30 - August 5
Join us for the first annual Cat Week at the Birmingham Zoo. Enjoy daily enrichment activities, keeper chats, animal trainings, conservation conversations and more! For a full schedule of activities, follow the link below.

Pancakes and Princesses


August 19, 8am-9:30am

Hear ye, hear ye! Adorn your crown or tiara and join us for a special meet and greet between your little prince and princess and our court of princesses at this royal breakfast! The first ever Pancakes and Princesses will take place on Saturday, August 19 at 8am in Trails of Africa, and will be followed by Fairytales and Frogs Day at the Zoo from 10am-2pm.
Tickets include a breakfast of fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, orange juice, photo opportunities with a multitude of princesses, Zoo admission, an unlimited ride wristband, and a regal craft project. Special appearances will be made by the princesses Moana, Anna and Elsa, Ariel and more!  Each child will receive a gift upon arrival.
Costumes are encouraged, and tickets are limited so purchase yours today! Special thanks to The Enchanted Princesses.

Fairytales and Frogs Day


August 19, 10am-2pm
Princes, princesses and all other fairytale characters are invited to the Birmingham Zoo to join the celebration of the 2nd annual Fairytales & Frog Day on Saturday, August 19, from 10am-2pm. Festivities are free for Members or with paid admission to the Zoo.
Children are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costume for the magical day where fairytales come alive. All royal subjects attending will receive a crown and have a chance to get their face painted. Photo opportunities will be plentiful as several costumed characters will be present to entertain the attendees.
Fairytales and Frogs Day will also feature special keeper chats and animal demonstrations, a DJ providing dance music, arts and crafts and a “Toad”ally awesome sampling booth provided by Coca-Cola.
This event will be held behind the Schaeffer Eye Center Wildlife Stage. Special thanks to The Enchanted Princesses.



Pirate Train Ride


Now Open

Most pirates set sail, but you’re invited to set rail on the all new Pirate Red Diamond Express Train Ride at the Zoo! The Zoo’s newest attraction promises to be both entertaining as well as inspiring and is designed to send an important message about water conservation. Guests of all ages will enjoy the legions of life-size, animatronic swashbucklers who have taken over the Zoo's trains.
